‘The Hunger Games‘ spinoff ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ is all set to release on November 17, 2023. The new movie will be based on the novel by American author, Suzanne Collins and directed by Francis Lawrence.
The Fifth Installment in ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage (from Game of Thrones), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), and Viola Davis among others.
Lionsgate will be the studio behind the movie and is set 64 years before the events of the first film, which featured Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
The spinoff follows a young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) and how he became the tyrannical leader of Panem. The 18-year-old Coriolanus is the last hope for his family with the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching.
In this movie, we will see Coriolanus mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) from District 12. Peter Dinklage, best known for his role as ‘Tyrion Lannister’ in Game of Thrones will play the role of ‘Casca Highbottom’.
‘The Hunger Games’ returns to movie theatres after more than 7 years. The first four movies starring Jennifer Lawrence set quite a few records. The Hunger Games is the 21st highest-grossing film franchise of all time.
The fourth and final main installment of the film, ‘Mockingjay – Part 2’ saw Katniss lead a team of rebels to liberate it from the tyrannical leadership of Coriolanus Snow. It will be interesting to see what led to the events which forced Coriolanus to act the way he does.
‘Is this fan-made?’
Fans were left disappointed after Lionsgate dropped a teaser for the new movie. Considering how the previous movies together grossed $2.97 billion worldwide, the CGI and editing on the teaser don’t look up to par.

This was a teaser trailer? Awful…..
Did no one say the actually good trailer that came out? This is clearly a Capitol Propaganda piece, it’s not apart of the movie.

With ‘The Hunger Games’ returning to theatres after 7 years, fans were hoping that Lionsgate would actually do some justice to the franchise. A few fans remained hopeful as this was just a teaser and not the final movie.
Looks like something made for guests at a theme park waiting in line for the Hunger Games 3D roller coaster

Many ‘SNL’ (Saturday Night Live) fans compared the similarity of the trailer to the show’s popular skits. Fans who have read the book are excited about the movie, and although we will not see Jennifer Lawrence again, many are hoping for a return.
