Netflix’s ‘Enola Holmes 3’ is definitely happening. ‘Enola Holmes‘ movies are based on the popular novel series ‘The Enola Holmes Mysteries’ by Nancy Springer. Netflix has released 2 movies, ‘Enola Holmes’ (2020) and ‘Enola Holmes 2’ (2022), and here’s everything you need to know about the third adaptation.
‘Enola Holmes’ (2020) is based on the novel whereas the sequel, ‘Enola Holmes 2’ (2022) takes inspiration from the 1888 matchgirls’ strike. Enola Holmes had an estimated 76 million households watching the film in the first four weeks, whereas Enola Holmes 2 had topped Netflix’s viewership charts in 93 countries.
The movies follow Enola Holmes, the youngest sibling in the Holmes family, and sister to the famous fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes. Millie Bobby Brown plays the role of the Enola and we expect her to return for a third time.
Enola Holmes 3: Release Date
Enola Holmes 3 has not been confirmed by Netflix yet and there is no official date, but the third movie is definitely happening. Directed Harry Bradbeer has teased that a third movie is under production.
Considering how the previous 2 movies were released in late 2020 and 2022 respectively, we can expect Enola Holmes 3 to be hitting Netflix in late 2024. With the recent strikes, the chances of the date being pushed back even further are highly possible.
Enola Holmes 3: What to Expect?
No official synopsis has been released yet but there is a possibility that the third film could be based on one of the novels by Nancy Springer. If so, then the movie is likely to adapt from ‘The Case of the Bizzare Bouquets’.
In the book, Sherlock’s partner, Dr. Watson is kidnapped. We could see Enola, Tewkesbury, and Sherlock working together once again. We could see a more older and mature version of Enola in the third movie.
Enola Holmes 2: Recap
In Enola Holmes 2, Enola gets a reality check when she opens up her own detective agency. This does not help the fact that she is overshadowed by her brother’s success as a detective. A young girl named Bessie asks her help to find her missing sister Sarah Chapman.
The movie follows Enola and Tewkesbury who work together to find the culprits. She finds clues that lead her to the Paragon Theatre, where a thrilling confrontation ensues. It leads to the arrest of Lord Mclntyre and the true mastermind, Mira Troy aka Moriarty.
Enola’s detective agency takes off and she sets up a new office with Edith. The movie ends with Sherlock meeting his new flatmate, Dr. John Watson.
