It’s been more than three years since Amazon first announced the new spy series “Citadel,” starring “Bodyguard” star Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (“Quantico”). Now, for the first time, the format, which is set to become part of an international series franchise, has a start date: Friday, April 28. In addition, Prime Video has now released a longer trailer.
Citadel Trailer
The series centers on agents Mason Kane (Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas). They escaped a dangerous situation only by a hair’s breadth, but since then they also have no memories. In the meantime, they have built a new life for themselves with new identities and know nothing of their past. This changes when Mason is tracked down by his former colleague Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci). He asks him to help in the fight against the Manticore organization, which seeks to establish a new, far-reaching order of rule.
So Mason eventually sets out to find his former partner Nadia. The two spies set out on a mission that takes them once around the world to stop Manticore. No easy task, as their relationship is based on secrets, lies and a dangerous but undying love.
Prime Video wants to establish “Citadel” as an international franchise. While Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are leading the U.S. version, there will also be series in other regions of the world. Currently, the corresponding series are already being produced in India and Italy, and another format for Mexico is also being discussed.
Citadel” is being produced by Anthony and Joe Russo, who once directed “Avengers: Endgame. David Weil (“Hunters”) is the showrunner.
