‘Challengers‘ is an upcoming romantic sports drama film which is directed by Luca Guadagnino. Zendaya is producing the movie along with Amy Pascal and the duo have previously worked together on the sets of Spiderman: No Way Home.
The movie follows the life of the wife and coach of a Grand Slam player, who signs him up for a challenger event against her former lover. Warner Bros. Pictures serves as the film’s international distributor, but it will not receive a theatrical release. Here’s everything else you need to know about the film.
Challengers Release Date
Challengers was originally scheduled to be released on September 15, 2023, and before that, on August 11, 2023. The ongoing delays are a result of the SAG-AFTRA strikes. Challengers is now set to release on April 26, 2024. This does come as a surprise because fans were expecting the movie to be pushed back by a few weeks and not months.
The film will receive a theatrical release in France and will be premiering on Amazon Prime Video.
What to Expect in Challengers?
The film revolves around the main characters, Tashi, Art and Patrick. In the trailer of the movie, a young Tashi is seen getting intimate with Art and Patrick. Years later, she has married Art, a former grand slam champion who is now on a losing streak.
She encourages Art to take part in a Challenger series, as it will be the perfect comeback for him. However, things go haywire when she realizes that Art’s next opponent is Patrick. The film revolves around how Tashi faces her past and what would the consequences of the match be.
Fans are excited to see how this love triangle pans out. The actors have got the temperature rising after the steamy, yet intense trailer launch.
