Batman: Caped Crusader: Amazon Prime Video rescues DC animated series

Don't miss

After HBO Max renounced Batman: Caped Crusader last year, Amazon Prime Video now takes over the DC animated series. As a sign of confidence, the superhero ordered two seasons directly in one fell swoop.

Last August, the Warner streamer HBO Max revealed that Batman: Caped Crusader and some other animated formats would not be developed further. In exchange, however, they allowed the series to find a new home. And that’s exactly what the Batman has now managed to do. Amazon Prime Video has struck and offers a double season order directly to the takeover.

“Batman: Caped Crusader” was originally announced in 2021. “The Batman” director Matt Reeves, super producer J. J. Abrams and Bruce Timm – the mastermind behind “Batman: The Animated Series,” “Superman: The Animated Series,” “Justice League” (and “Justice League Unlimited”), “Batman Beyond” and numerous animated films – as well as Ed Brubaker are behind this series.

In a statement about the series, reeves, Timm and Abrams once said, “We are more than excited to work together to bring this character back and tell gripping new stories in Gotham City. This series will be thrilling, cinematic and return to the noir roots of Batman as we dive deep into the psychology of these legendary characters. We can’t wait to share this new world.”

Little is known about the actual content so far. It is said to be more about the earlier years, before Batman befriended Commissioner James Gordon. Besides Amazon, various other platforms are also said to have been involved in the project.
