Lisa Marie Presley’s death was due to adhesions or scar tissue, said Deputy Medical Examiner Dr. Juan M. Carrillo, that developed after she underwent bariatric surgery several years ago. This complication is known to occur in the long term following this type of surgery.Dr. Carrillo also disclosed the results of the toxicology analysis conducted during the autopsy. The report indicated the presence of oxycodone in Presley‘s bloodstream at therapeutic levels. Additionally, metabolites of quetiapine, a medication used to treat depression, schizophrenia, or manic episodes, as well as buprenorphine, a painkiller, were detected.
However, Dr. Carrillo clarified that these substances did not contribute to her death.
Based on the findings, Dr. Carrillo concluded that there was no evidence of injury or foul play involved in Presley’s death. Therefore, the manner of her death was determined to be natural.
