5 Worst Rated Movies On Netflix

Don't miss

Some of the worst Netflix original films have demonstrated that not every Netflix original can be a success. Netflix has demonstrated its ability to compete with major networks and studios in recent years. In reality, they now put their primary attention on creating original material, and this move has changed the service from being merely a judge of amusement to a forerunner of contemporary media consumption. While Netflix movies are completely prohibited from competition at the Cannes Film Festival, several other Netflix films have also received positive reviews.

Critics have given certain Netflix movies glowing reviews, but others have left them perplexed. These days, Netflix releases more original content than ever. Some of these films have won important honours, including Oscar nominations, while others have received harsh criticism from reviewers. Many of these critically panned films, however, are adored by uninformed viewers who are frequently just looking for a good time. Some individuals, in fact, are interested in learning about the worst Netflix original movies because they like a good terrible movie. The verdict of the reviewers is in, and several Netflix productions stand out as the worst ever.

Worst Movies On Netflix

The Outsiders

Jared Leto, an Oscar winner, plays the lead in one of the worst Netflix original films. He plays an American POW in The Outsider who stays in Japan and rises through the ranks of the Yakuza crime syndicate. This movie had amazing potential just based on the plot. Critics, meanwhile, were utterly unimpressed. An intriguing and ambitious idea that was, sadly, badly carried out.

Jared Leto has had a varied career, with some duds in his filmography including Morbius and Suicide Squad from 2016. The Outsider, unfortunately, belongs to this group. This Netflix Original has been criticized by Variety for being “dull, flavourless, and fundamentally incurious,” and it was also mentioned that Leto’s performance seemed “disengaged.”

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny

A Netflix original that ranks among the worst also happens to be the follow-up to one of the best martial arts films ever produced. This is a follow-up to the significant film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which was nominated for multiple Academy Awards and won a number of them as well. Additionally, it rose to prominence as one of all-time’s most culturally significant films. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny, its sequel, ended up being one of the worst Netflix original films.

Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh reprised her role as Yu Shu Lien in the Netflix follow-up film. Although the battle scenes were amazing, the plot was thought to be unimpressive.

Special Correspondents

Another poorly received comedy from the streaming site is one of the worst Netflix original films, which stars Ricky Gervais. In the television series Special Correspondents, two radio journalists played by Ricky Gervais and Eric Bana plan to stage a kidnapping while on duty in South America. This is another intriguing premise that a Netflix original film mishandles.

This one has fared poorly even though it appears that viewers may have liked it more than the official reviews. Both viewers and critics tend to concur that Special Correspondents’ writing is terrible and its characters lack depth, which is tremendously bad for a comedy. Although the untranslatable satirical theme was lost in translation, Gervais does provide some humorous moments.

The True Memoirs Of An International Assassin

It was only a matter of time until more celebrities decided to join Netflix, which, regrettably, leads to more of the worst Netflix original films with an improved cast. Having said that, The True Memoirs of an International Assassin seems to be Kevin James’ ideal Netflix project. Unfortunately, this Netflix original didn’t perform nearly as well as expected, despite (yet again) having an intriguing premise.

In this film, James is a novelist who, when his book is published as a true story, gets mistaken for a genuine assassin. He meets El Toro, played by Andy Garcia, a contemporary Che Guevara, in this way. It has a more original plot and was a better Kevin James film than, example, Paul Blart: Mall Cop. However, viewers were left perplexed as to what genre it actually belonged to due to the balance of action and humour.

Drive

Drive, thriller a 2019 release, attempts to be a celebration of Indian cinema, but instead becomes one of the worst Netflix original films and a shoddy, shallow parody of expensive Hollywood blockbusters like Fast and Furious. Even for those who have a strong love for international cinema, Drive is seen as being monotonous, unnecessarily long, and glitzy to the point of silliness.

Those who go into it expecting the same-named Ryan Gosling-starring classic will be bitterly disappointed, and even those expecting a kid-friendly action flick will be unsatisfied. One of the rare Netflix original movies to receive a 0 from critics. Although the plot lacks much coherence, it can be a good alternative for viewers who wish to watch a flop but funny movie.
