The Foremans return and give us even more reason to laugh in That ’90s Show Season 2 gives us even more reason to laugh.
Nostalgia fans watch out – get ready for another trip back in time! Streaming service Netflix has officially renewed the revival of one of the most popular sitcoms of the last 30 years for a second season. That ’90s Show is returning to your home screens. This time, however, time will not be turned back quite so far, because instead of 1995, the Foremans will be back in 1996. You can also expect significantly more episodes.
Netflix orders That ’90s Show Season 2
Little has changed in the original series’ recipe for success. Leia Foreman (Callie Haverda), Eric and Donna’s daughter, makes herself at home in the basement of her grandparents Kitty (Debro Jo Rupp) and Red (Kurtwood Smith) and has all kinds of adventures with her new friends – at least as far as suburban life in Point Place allows. So it’s no surprise that That ’90s Show made it into the Netflix top 10 in 57 countries and was watched over 41 million hours worldwide in its first week (via FlixPatrol). This is reason enough for Netflix to give the sitcom revival a second season.
Not only the fans are happy about this, but also everyone involved, as showrunner Gregg Mettler revealed (via Variety):
“All of us at That ’90s Show have been beyond thrilled with the warm, enthusiastic response to our first season. We can’t wait to return to Point Place for another summer of laughs and surprises. Hello 1996!”
When does That ’90s Show Season 2 on Netflix?
It is not yet known exactly when the new episodes will start on Netflix. The streaming service usually leaves about a year between seasons. As a result, the audience can hope to see Leia, Kitty, Red and co. again at the beginning of 2024. However, there is no official confirmation of this. However, Netflix has already announced that That ’90s Show Season 2 will contain more episodes. While the first season started with ten episodes, season 2 will contain a full 16 episodes (via Entertainment Weekly).
That ’90s Show Season 2: What could happen next?
According to Gregg Mettler, season 2 will take place in the summer of 1996. So Leia’s visit to her grandparents will probably not become a long-term stay, but an annual tradition. It remains to be seen whether she will be able to use the time to consolidate her new contacts and experience further adventures with her friends – sex, drugs and rock’n’roll included. But a lot can happen in a year… What exactly lies ahead for Leia, neighbor Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide) and the rest of the gang, only a second season can show us.
