Now that the first season of the new Peacock series Poker Face is over, showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman are already busy thinking about season two. They even revealed their guest star wishes recently.
Yesterday, Thursday, March 9, the tenth and final episode of the first season of Poker Face went online at the US streaming service Peacock. Viewers are already looking towards season two, which was ordered in mid-February.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner sisters Nora and Lilla Zuckerman talked about future plans for the format, which they created together with “Knives Out” and “Glass Onion” director Rian Johnson. One question was fascinating: Which guest stars could be approached for the new episodes? After big names like Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Barkin, Chloe Sevigny, Hong Chau, Nick Nolte and Ron Perlman were involved in the last…
Lilla Zuckerman on possible dream guests: “Where do we want to go next? Oh my, we have so many ideas. I’ve had countless things not come in on season one. And I know we’ll have new ideas, too, based on what we’ve experienced and seen and loved this past season.”
When asked about specific candidates:ins, she said, “We’d love to get Jamie Lee Curtis to play a role. And the entire cast of ‘Knives Out,’ we’ll get you! The cast of ‘Glass Onion’ then as well.”
Nora Zuckerman added, “You better answer the phone when we call. Maya Rudolph is someone we’ve been talking about because she’s one of the producers of our show and an associate of Natasha’s. So it’s only a matter of time before a van pulls up in front of Maya’s house and we grab her and throw her into a ‘Poker Face’ episode. It’s just wonderful that Rian already has this group of people who love working with him. It’s a real luxury problem.”
Minor spoiler about the first season finale: Cheers veteran Rhea Perlman was also announced as a guest star, but only let her voice be heard at the end. The Zuckerman sisters admitted, however, that they plan to have her make a physical appearance for the new season. The second “Cheers” star, John Ratzenberger was even in the mix. The showrunner team took this parallel as an opportunity to also suggest Ted Danson as a possible candidate – him and the rest of the cast at the time. But all these considerations are of course only hypothetical, at least for now.
