A decade after the Great Collapse, hybrid boy Gus (Christian Convery) seemed to have lost his family. His father died and his mother had been missing for years. But then a new adventure began for Gus. Together with the big man Tommy Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), Gus met humans and hydrids on his journey, who became his new family.

After Gus and the hybrid children were able to escape from the captivity of the Last Men and put a stop to the nasty General Abbot, the next chapter of their story now begins. Because Gus now wants to find his mother Birdie (Amy Seimetz) under all circumstances. This is in Alaska and could be the key to creating a cure for the mysterious disease.

And so Gus, Big Man, Becky (Stefania LaVie Owen) and Wendy (Naledi Murray) set off for Alaska. The scientist Dr. Sing (Adeel Akhtar) also follows them, because he still wants to create a cure. But on their journey, the group faces a new danger: the sinister Zhang (Rosalind Chao) and her ravenous hybrids.
