Napoleon first look reveals Joaquin Phoenix and Ridley Scott reunited

Don't miss

In the film Ridley Scott Napoleon, Phoenix plays the French general Napoleon Bonaparte, and Vanessa Kirby plays EmpreInss Josephine. Napoleon, which Scott directed from a script by David Scarpa, depicts the early years of the French emperor and military leader as well as his quick ascension to the throne. That is seen through the lens of his dependency on his frequently tumultuous marriage to his one and only true love, Josephine. The movie depicts Napoleon as an exceptional military leader and war genius by showcasing his renowned battles, unrelenting ambition, and outstanding strategic thinking.

The movie’s global theatrical release launch date has been announced for November 22 by Apple Original Films and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The movie will have a global Apple TV+ stream after it has been shown in theatres. The historical epic joins Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which is scheduled for a late October release through Paramount Pictures, as Apple’s second awards-season picture with an ambitious theatrical run.

Joaquin Phoenix reunites with Ridley Scott in Napoleon

Joaquin Phoenix explains in an interview with Empire that he was drawn to the notion of working with Ridley again because of the amazing experience he had with him on the film Gladiator when he was younger. He yearned for a similar experience, and Napoleon appeared like the ideal ambitious and psychologically astute undertaking. Although Ridley had previously approached him about other projects, they both thought that this one would be a challenging and rewarding endeavor.

Joaquin Phoenix added, “Working with Ridley on Gladiator was such an amazing experience for me because I was so young. That huge production was my first. I genuinely desired to have that experience—or one like it—again.  He said, “He’s approached me about other things in the past,” Phoenix adds, “but nothing that felt like it would be as difficult for both of us. Therefore, I thought it was a great idea to start something with Ridley that would be.
