According to Bryan Cranston, appearing in a Wes Anderson movie is akin to playing in an orchestra. The 67-year-old actor is part of Anderson’s all-star ensemble cast in the upcoming film “Asteroid City.”
The actress compared the quirky director to a conductor of music, according to a Female First UK article. Read on to learn everything he revealed.
Bryan Cranston observed at the Cannes Film Festival, “It feels like Wes Anderson is directing an orchestra. And every one of us plays the respective instrument. We give our instrument our full attention and simply play it, not really knowing how it will all come together. And he conducts, changing things as he goes—a little less Bryan, a little more Scarlett (Johansson) at this point, or whatever.”

Bryan Cranston, who portrays a television host in the 1950s-era film, told Female First UK that it is Anderson’s “love letter to performance art” because it incorporates both stage and screen mediums.
“It’s a movie about a television show doing a story in a theatre,” the ‘Breaking Bad‘ star stated. Additionally, I believe it is Wes’ ode to performance art. He’s got his arms around the three main media that we work with.
Who will be seen in the upcoming Asteroid City movie
Jason Schwartzman, who plays Augie Steenbeck in “Asteroid City,” attributes his professional success to the “Isle of Dogs” director’s insatiable curiosity. The actress, who has been in eight of Anderson’s films, reflected: “I was 17 when we met (on ‘Rushmore’), and he was the first person who wasn’t in my family who was over the age of 20 that actually asked a question, cared what I responded, and was curious about what I was interested in. I have a feeling that’s why everyone is present. Because (Wes) is curious about all of us and always notices something about us that we don’t.”
Margot Robbie, Tom Hanks, Hong Chau, and Scarlett Johansson make up the film’s primary cast. Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Jason Schwartzman, Willem Dafoe, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Grace Edwards, Aristou Meehan, Sophia Lillis, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum, and Rita Wilson are also present in the movie.
The newest film on director Wes Anderson’s extensive list of accomplishments is “Asteroid City.” His other notable works include “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “Isle of Dogs,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “The French Dispatch,” and “The Royal Tenenbaums.”
According to “Variety,” Anderson’s Netflix-supported adaptation of the Roald Dahl book “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” is also scheduled to debut in 2023.
