Disney Was Pessimistic With The Obi-Wan Kenobi, Turns Out It Continue To Season 2

Director Deborah Chowrevealed that he is also interested in working on a second season.

Don't miss

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which just ended in its sixth episode, seems to have made Disney and LucasFilm pessimistic. Because they planned it as a limited series that only has one season. But seeing the very high interest of fans, it seems that everything will change.

LucasFilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, previously said that a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi could be made even though the chances are very slim. However, recently it seems that he and several filmmakers are paving the way for the second season of the series which is a Star Wars prequel.

To Entertainment Tonight, director Deborah Chow, who directed six episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, revealed that he is also interested in working on a second season. Although he admitted they only intended to make it a limited series.

“For this one, we envisioned it as a limited series. It’s a big story with a beginning, middle, and end. So, we didn’t think past that,” Deborah Chow told, delivered recently.

Synopsis Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1

With new episodes airing every Wednesday on Disney+ Hotstar, the series tells the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi trying to save Leia Organa from The Inquisitors. During the trip, Obi-Wan Kenobi learns the shocking fact that Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is still alive and chasing him. The Jedi, who had lost his strength, had to face Darth Vader again to fight each other.

Bringing back this fun nostalgic story with a variety of new twists, here are five reasons why Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is a must-have on your binge-watching list to fill your weekend.

1. The Return of Two Iconic Star Wars Characters

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after the iconic events in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. At that time Obi-Wan lost his best friend, Anakin Skywalker, who decided to join the dark side and became the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Through this series, fans can watch the epic battle between these two iconic characters, which are again played by Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader and Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

2. Live the Villain From the Animated Series

An exciting and interesting story can not be separated from the antagonist. The series brings to life the antagonists known as The Inquisitors. The Grand Inquisitor character was first introduced in the animated series Star Wars Rebels.

In the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series, the Inquisitors are played by Rupert Friend as The Grand Inquisitor, Sung Kang as the Fifth Brother, and Moses Ingram as the newest Inquisitor known as the Third Sister.

3. The Little Leia Organa Figure That Steals Attention

Fans must be familiar with the Princess from the world of Star Wars, Princess Leia. This series will reveal Leia’s childhood with her clever, brave, ignorant, wise, and confident character, which has been shown through the adult Leia character in the previous trilogy films.

He grew up friendly with droids, really liked the planes that passed through the air, even adept at identifying the type of planes like Luke Skywalker. Leia’s action caught the attention of the audience when she went on an adventure with Obi-Wan Kenobi, with her adorable figure but acting wisely like an adult.

4. A Mixture of Old Star Wars Legacy With a New Look

The essence of the Star Wars films, which began in 1977, has always been maintained until now, including in the Star Wars series: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Even though they carry the same essence, the filmmakers ensure that fans can enjoy new, entertaining nuances. In collaboration with production designer Todd Cherniawsky and director of photography Chung-hoon Chung, Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi presents a new and exciting galaxy.

“We want to do something new. We don’t want to just repeat the same thing, we want to expand the Star Wars galaxy but still fit the Star Wars character that has been so attached,” said director Deborah Chow.

5. Unexpected Surprise

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi was not only a surprise for Star Wars fans, but also shocking news for the two main characters, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen. Neither of them expected to return to their iconic roles in Star Wars after Revenge of the Sith.

At that time they thought that the existence of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader had ended. When the offer for this series came, both of them felt very happy to be able to return to playing the characters that had been so attached to Ewan and Hayden.

“I think the further my career goes in this trilogy, the more interesting things I can do,” said Ewan McGregor.
