DI Neville Parker, played by Ralf Little, is back for more crime-solving adventures on the sunny island of Saint Marie in Death in Paradise.
The last series was full of twists and turns, especially when Neville found out that his girlfriend Sophie had a dark secret!
But Ralf is ready to team up with The Commissioner again for Season 13. This is the thirteenth instalment of the hugely popular show, which began in 2011.
We can also look forward to some crossover episodes with the spin-off series Beyond Paradise (and another spin-off, just announced, Return to Paradise), with one crossover already confirmed!
The filming of the new series and the Christmas special is almost done. Ralf has been posting many behind-the-scenes videos during the production, showing that he’s been enjoying some relaxing moments on the beach with his friends, including a Sunday roast. He says the island is “stunning and beautiful” and he has a lot of fun.
It looks like Ralf will be in all of the episodes of the new series, so we won’t see a new DI. Ralf has been on the show for more than four years, but he doesn’t seem to be bored of the role yet, and this means there will be more mysteries for Neville to solve.
Here’s everything we know… warning: spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched all of series 12!
Ralf Little Confirms When Season 13 Finishes Filming

As the new season of Death in Paradise approaches, Ralf Little, who plays detective Neville Parker, has shared some exciting details about the filming schedule and the plot.
According to his Instagram Live Q&A, the cast and crew will wrap up their work in Guadeloupe by 29th October 2023, just in time for the Christmas special to air in December and the full season to premiere in January.
This follows the usual pattern of the show, which has been launching new seasons in January since its second run. The show’s official Twitter account, now renamed as X, announced the start of filming for season 13 in May with a tweet that said: “We’re back in Guadeloupe with a splash! Today was our first day of filming series 13 of #DeathInParadise!”
Little also gave some hints about what fans can expect from the new episodes, promising more “challenges” for the main characters after the dramatic events of season 12, which saw Neville accused of murder.
Little said: “We’re going to try and pick up with the tone [from] the end of last year. We really tried to push the boat out with series 12 with not just a mystery every week, and just solving the mystery and moving on, but over the course of the series really trying to find challenges for the main characters. There’s going to be more challenges for the characters.”
Beyond Paradise, the first spin-off of Death in Paradise, brought Kris Marshall back to the screen this year. Fans can look forward to a festive episode of the show, as well as a second season in 2022.
Ralf Little, who plays Neville Parker on the main show, was asked if he would like to have his own spin-off when he leaves Death in Paradise. He said: “Well, fingers crossed, hey?
“There’s nothing planned for the future yet, but I hope they have something in mind for me when I have to say goodbye to the show. Maybe another spin-off? Who knows?”.
Death in Paradise Season 13 Release Date

While a specific return date for season 13 of “Death in Paradise” hasn’t been announced, the show is confirmed for two series and two Christmas specials. Lindsay Salt, BBC drama director, praised the show’s mystery, humor, and heart that keeps viewers engaged.
The program’s success prompts happiness for its return with two more series and specials on BBC One and iPlayer, said Lindsay Salt, BBC drama director. Executive producer Tim Key adds excitement for upcoming surprises and plans.
Given its popularity and longevity, the series continues with more content, including a Christmas special and the 100th episode in series 13. A specific release date hasn’t been revealed yet, but traditionally, festive specials air between Christmas and New Year, followed by a series launch in early January.
Death in Paradise Season 13 Plot

Well, Death in Paradise is largely a police procedural – so expect some alarmingly elaborate murder plots coming your way. While the rest of the team has some smaller storylines, they haven’t ever tangled into their work as much as they did in the latest season, so there is a chance there could be more on the horizon if the show continues to develop this way.
After deciding to remain in Saint Marie following one last conversation with killer ex-girlfriend Sophie, Neville might be struggling to find love again – but you never know.
Death in Paradise Season 13 Cast
