“Bridgerton” fans are waiting impatiently for the new episodes of season 3 – but according to a leaked start date, we will now have to wait even longer.
The streaming service Netflix is showing its trust in “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes and her production company, which landed an absolute hit with “Bridgerton”: Even before the start of season 2, seasons 3 and 4 have also been given the green light. The future of the romantic history series is therefore assured. Here you can find out everything we already know about the third season of “Bridgerton”.

Bridgerton Season 3: Netflix launch not until 2024
The cast shared the first moving images from the set via social media, confirming the start of filming for Bridgerton season 3 in the summer of 2022. Following the increased safety precautions in the wake of the pandemic, “Bridgerton” now had to deal with new problems on set. As Daily Mail UK reported at the beginning of January 2023, filming was delayed. The realization of season 3 had become too dark for Rhimes, so new recordings had to be made. However, all scenes are now in the can.
A concrete start date is still a long time coming. Only the second half of 2023 has been roughly promised. This was also confirmed by the Portuguese Netflix account, which inadvertently revealed December 14, 2023 as the start date. You can see a screenshot of the now-deleted post here.
Hello! Magazine elicited a few words about the third “Bridgerton” season from Lady Danbury actress Adjoa Andoh. Including a juicy detail about the start:
“[…] We’ve been holding our breath for a long time. Because of the way the year has developed and the fact that the season is coming out next year, the anticipation is getting bigger and bigger.”
This means that the December start (when the second part of The Crown season 6 will go online) is probably done and “Bridgerton” fans will have to wait until 2024. Let’s hope that the third season can at least start at the beginning of the year and not be delayed any longer. We’ll keep you up to date.
Bridgerton Season 3: What’s next?
The plan is for Netflix to focus on one couple and their love story per season (book) – just like in the original book by Julia Quinn. Accordingly, fans were already expecting season 3 to film the book “How to Seduce a Lord” and place Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) at the center of the action. But now we are in for a major change.
Showrunner Shonda Rhimes and Chis Van Dusen had already hinted at it and now we have certainty: the series will deviate from the chronology of the book series and present the romance of Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) in the next season, as Lady Whistledown herself announced (Entertainment Weekly).
In addition, another change is imminent, as Anthony and Kate’s love story is not yet fully told, as reported by ComicBook.com, among others. In comparison to Daphne and Simon, Anthony and Kate will still get a little more screen time after their “own” season.
Bridgerton Season 3: Who’s in it?
We expect all the Bridgerton siblings to take on more or less major roles in season 3, with Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) taking center stage. In addition, Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley have already been confirmed as Anthony Bridgerton and his newlywed wife Kate (see above). In contrast, the Duke of Hastings and Regé-Jean Page have already said goodbye to his role completely, more on this in the linked article. We are very likely to see the following actors again in season 3:
- Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton)
- Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton, now Duchess of Hastings)
- Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton)
- Hanna Dodd (Francesca Bridgerton)
- Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton)
- Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton)
- Ruth Gemmel (Lady Violet Bridgerton)
In addition to Hanna Dodd, who replaces Ruby Strokes and can now be seen as Francesca, we are expecting further exciting new additions.
