The Turks and Caicos Islands are the perfect destination for everyone who wants to relax, enjoy the turquoise sea, and have the opportunity to visit the most beautiful beach in the world, Grace Bay.
Last year my family and I had the opportunity to go there, and we had a few days to explore the city. We did some weekend trips and during the week I went out to check out the neighborhoods, little shops, and resorts around – more specifically the bars hehe.
Where are the Turks and Caicos Islands?
The Turks and Caicos island group is part of the United Kingdom, although it is located in the Caribbean Sea – close to the islands of Cuba, Haiti, and the Bahamas. It consists of 40 islands, but not all of them are inhabited, only nine. The most touristy islands are Providenciales, Grand Turk, East Caicos, South Caicos, North Caicos, Middle Caicos, and others nearby that are also beautiful.
There are almost 32,000 people in total, 27,000 of whom live on Providenciales Island. The dominant language is English and some residents speak Creole. The population is ethnically mixed (61%) – African and European – and 34% of the population is of African descent. The natives have great energy – they are very friendly and cheerful, which makes the experience more lively and enjoyable.
Futos do mar is the focus of local cuisine, especially the famous conch fries and conch salad – which are the main dishes there. The currency used is the dollar, so yes, it’s a sweet spot, at least for us haha.
Most of the tourists are Americans and Canadians who set out to enjoy their vacation in this island paradise.
But here’s our secret to enjoying our Turks and Caicos vacation to the fullest!
We stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Turks and Caicos and it was an unforgettable experience, making us want to repeat it again and again. But what was the resort like? Let me explain a few important things about the resort that White Villas owns. White Villas is a company that owns and manages resorts near Long Bay Beach, Providenciales.
I was quickly impressed when my family and I walked into a villa there and saw that it was the epitome of a true five-star yet still all-inclusive concept. The concept doesn’t force visitors to plan everything and they basically just need to budget in advance and it’s stress-free because of the affordable facilities.
I found that the sumptuous Turks and Caicos dishes served by a native chef were reasonably priced. I also found some or rather quite a few pre-paid packages at great prices. Private villas, private chefs, private pools, ease of renting luxury cars, boats, and diving gear, all at a fraction of the cost of the same items offered by other villas (outside of White Villas).
During my four days there I was completely satisfied. My family and I were able to relax and swim in our private pool while sipping on delicious Caribbean-style juices. The gentle breeze and lapping waves of Long Bay Beach in the distance really took us into a tranquil imagination.
And when we wanted to explore the local life of Providenciales, a Toyota FJ Cruiser pulled up to the front of the villa and drove us straight to Cockburn Town. From there we went to several local destinations such as the National Museum of Turks and Caicos, Art Provo, and the famous Grace Bay. In the late afternoon, we returned to the villa for a shower and rest and in the evening we went to some authentic local bars in Cockburn.
The following days we continued with similar activities and of course, interspersed with daytime adventures to the surrounding islands with their pristine beaches. Before we knew it, four days had passed and we had to leave for home. One thing is for sure, Turks and Caicos is a destination that should be visited at least once in a lifetime and the all-inclusive resort White Villas is the perfect complement to your Turks and Caicos trip.
