YOU season 5: Netflix reveals ‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega’s RETURN

Don't miss

Before ‘You’s return to Netflix for its fifth and final season, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) has unfinished business with a number of characters, including Jenna Ortega’s Ellie Alves.

We all know there are many loose ends from Joe’s history, and in a new teaser Netflix posted at its Tudum fan event on Saturday, Badgley teased: “We all know there are many people Joe will encounter again when he returns to New York City for season 5. ‘Who are you?’ is the question.

Yes! The fifth season of You, according to Netflix, will be the show’s final one. Producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will take over as co-showrunners for the final season in place of Sera Gamble, who served as showrunner for seasons 1-4. According to their own statement, producers Sarah Schechter and Greg Berlanti “intend to bring [Gamble] every idea we can from our company for years to come.”

Is Jenna Ortega really returning as Ellie in You season 5?

After five seasons, it appears that one of the most popular Netflix series is coming to an end. Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Jenna Ortega’s Ellie Alves, who played the notorious serial killer Joe Goldberg, as there are many other characters and storylines that surround Penn Badgley’s return as the notorious serial killer.

The 20-year-old actress was originally supposed to feature in season 4, but scheduling issues forced the show’s creators to alter their plans. In February, Sera Gamble spoke to IndieWire about her role in “Wednesday,” saying, “We wanted to bring Ellie back [in season 4], and we heard, ‘Oh, Jenna is doing some show.”

Currently, Badgley is making hints about Ortega’s potential comeback at a recent season 5 teaser screening. “Everyone is aware that Joe’s past leaves a lot of loose ends. Ellie, who is still present in the life of the serial murderer, is one of the many past personas that have appeared on television, the actor said. “The question is, ‘Who are you?'” he added, as per People.

How were Ellie and Joe’s equation have been throughout the show?

In the season two finale of You, Joe sends Ellie to Florida with a large sum of money in order to keep her safe from Love, who Ellie doesn’t know murdered her elder sister Delilah. Love’s strategy was to accuse and blame 15-year-old Ellie for Henderson’s slaying before saving Ellie and clearing Joe with the help of the Quinn family’s attorneys.

Joe offers Ellie money and instructs her to flee and begin a new life on the other side of the nation because CPS and the Quinn family are following her. Fans questioned whether Ellie would return to exact revenge or reveal Joe after he let her go knowing about Delilah’s murder. Now when Ellie might return in season 5, fans are eagerly waiting to see how things dwell between her and Joe.
