Taylor Sheridan, the creator of ‘Yellowstone’ has a lot on his plate, especially now that the show’s star, Kevin Costner is exiting the series. The show revolves around the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, and their attempts to control the massive ranch, ‘Yellowstone’.
The success of ‘Yellowstone’ has led to the creation of the spin-off series ‘Yellowstone: 1883’ and ‘6666’. These shows further follow into the rich history of the Dutton Family and the Yellowstone Ranch.

This isn’t the first time Taylor has run into trouble with the cast, as he previously caused drama on ‘Tulsa King’ and the upcoming spy thriller ‘Special Ops: Lioness’. Paramount has since confirmed that the show is to come to an end in the upcoming second half of season 5.
What’s next for Taylor Sheridan and ‘Yellowstone’?
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor Sheridan was asked about his plans to cope with the main star of the show leaving.
“My opinion of Kevin as an actor hasn’t altered,” Sheridan says. “His creation of John Dutton is symbolic and powerful … and I’ve never had an issue with Kevin that he and I couldn’t work out on the phone. But once lawyers get involved, then people don’t get to talk to each other and start saying things that aren’t true and attempt to shift blame based on how the press or public seem to be reacting. He took a lot of this on the chin and I don’t know that anyone deserves it. His movie seems to be a great priority to him and he wants to shift focus. I sure hope [the movie is] worth it — and that it’s a good one.
“I’m disappointed,” Taylor Sheridan adds. “It truncates the closure of his character. It doesn’t alter it, but it truncates it.”
Taylor Sheridan hinted that John Dutton was never going to be around for the end of the show, but he does not plan to kill off his character. In fact, Sheridan’s character in ‘Sons of Anarchy’ met with a similar ending when he pulled out of the show so he does not want to alter the storyline abruptly.
With the show coming to an end soon, Sheridan plans on more Yellowstone prequels which are yet to be announced. He already has signed deals with Paramount who so far have been filling his pockets for the shows.
“I know these are huge bets Paramount makes on me every time. I’m asking them to give me Game of Thrones season six money for what is essentially a pilot every year, and that’s a big ask. As long as I do my job well, and people don’t bore of the genre, I think there will be enough for many more [prequels] — three or four. Chris McCarthy trusts me because I haven’t been wrong yet.”
