Virgin River Season 5: Storyline
In an interview with US magazine TVLine , Patrick Sean Smith has now hinted at his plans for his “Virgin River” debut as showrunner. Despite the showrunner change, Smith wants to make the transition between seasons as smooth as possible.
For this purpose, he has also dealt in detail with the characteristics of all characters, their pasts and possible future plans in advance. In this way he wants to ensure that season 5 can continue “seamlessly” and “without a time jump” from the story of the previous 4th season.
So we can be sure that there will be a lot of exciting news for Mel and Jack in Season 5. After the grand finale of Season 4, it is now clear that the child Mel is carrying is actually Jack’s and not her late husband Mark’s. The two have a daughter together.
Also, Jack and Mel are finally engaged. After Jack’s proposal at the end of season 3 was interrupted by Mel’s announcement that he was pregnant, he finally gets to propose again at the end of season 4. This time Mel accepts it too. Season 5 could also be exciting between Lizzie and Denny. Ricky left Virgin River to join the Army. In the finale, Charmaine admits she lied about her twins. Jack is not the father of her unborn children. This will surely shatter the newfound friendship between Jack and Charmaine.

At the moment it can be assumed that all the main actors will return in the new episodes. Sue Tenney has resigned as showrunner of “Virgin River” after the fourth season because she wants to devote herself to other projects after four successful seasons. Patrick Sean Smith has now been named as her successor for the new episodes.
