A first look at Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer is finally in the works. On the occasion of the upcoming Geeked Week organized by Netflix, a new trailer shows excerpts from several upcoming series and films, including Sandman the Neil Gaiman series based on his comics.

He unveils footage from Stranger Things, Gourmand, The Umbrella Academy and many others, then at the end, we discover Christie descending from her realm of hell, dressed all in white with her black wings, saying, “Hello, Dream. How are you ?”

Lucifer is an important part of The Sandman. As the immortal embodiment of dreams, Morpheus (Sturridge) frequently has relationships with other beings of cosmic importance. The Sandman’s version of the devil is the same one that inspired the recent Lucifer series with Tom Ellis in the title role. The new series clearly took a different direction with the cast of characters. Gwendoline Christie.

Originally created by Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, The Sandman is the story of Morpheus (also called Dream/Rêve), the king of dreams. At the beginning of the story, Morpheus (Tom Sturridge) is taken prisoner by human wizards hoping to capture his sister, Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste of The Good Place). Not knowing what to do with the supernatural being they trapped, these budding wizards leave him trapped in their basement for decades until one day he finally escapes to reclaim his kingdom.

Carlos Danza (Game of Thrones), plays Roderick Burgess, Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) is Corinthian, also known as Nightmare (Cauchemar), Lucifer will be played by Gwendoline Christie, Mason Alexander Park plays the role of Desire and Stephen Fry is Gilbert. On the biblical side, the roles of Abel and Cain will be played by Asim Chaudhry and Sanjeev Bhaskar respectively.

Netflix has not yet revealed a release date for The Sandman. An announcement may be made during Geeked Week, which will take place June 6-10.
