The Menu: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and Everything We Know So Far

Don't miss

The culinary business has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. Food serves more purposes than only providing energy for your body in extravagantly expensive restaurants. Before Chef Slowik whips up a deadly feast, here is what we currently know about The Menu.

Some view it as a significant art form that may offer remark on a variety of aspects of life, similar to a well-written piece of literature or a piece of insightful art. This present rebirth in the field of food preparation is probably a factor in the success of films like Pig, which both introduced a complete culture to more general viewers and offered them a really good movie.

It was just a matter of time until a horror movie was based on it, as is the case with Searchlight’s The Menu, as with any important cultural phenomenon. In the part of a culinary master and eccentric chef who has invented a dish unlike any other for his affluent patrons at his secret restaurant, veteran actor Ralph Fiennes is to be followed. There is really no other way to explain it than that the food is incredible.

Watch the Trailer for The Menu

The first trailer for The Menu establishes its tone and cast of people while being rather ambiguous about the plot. The “doorway” into a world of food that is so extravagantly extravagant and over-the-top that it almost borders on insanity seems to be Anya Taylor-persona Joy’s. The film clearly has a horror-thriller aspect to it, but there are also dark humor components thrown in with the sense of extreme suspense that one could cut with a knife. For instance, Chef Slowik delivers a very dramatic and ominous remark right after Nicholas Hoult’s character misrepresents the meal he is eating.

The second trailer for the film The Menu, which Searchlight Pictures unveiled on August 10, provided an even clearer look at the plot and made it clear that Anya Taylor’s character Joy doesn’t seem to fit at this lavish dinner. Additionally, we have a glimpse of a handful of the odd foods that The Menu would serve to naive diners.

When and Where is The Menu Releasing?

The Menu

The Menu will be exclusively available in theaters on November 18, just in time for Thanksgiving dinner with the entire family for an evening of delectable cuisine and crazy outbursts. Although there is currently no information available regarding the movie’s streaming options, Hulu seems to be the most likely streaming choice for culinary chaos given that it is a Searchlight Pictures production and is probably not even slightly too intense for the indie distributors’ new mouse overlord.

What is the Plot of The Menu?

Horror movie aficionados are aware that it is probably not a smart idea to travel to a mystery island that is in the middle of nowhere and is owned by an eccentric maniac. If they do, the audience will scream at the major characters both onscreen and off, telling them to stop acting in such a way.

Nevertheless, young Tyler and his girlfriend Margot traveled to one of these islands. The reason is? Tyler seems to be a major fan of Executive Chef Slowik, whose home is there. Slowik is a well-known chef. Tyler is a self-described foodie and couldn’t rationally refuse an offer from a chef of such notoriety, even though Margot is unclear of the relevance of the offer.

Margot and Tyler aren’t the only ones invited to this special meal; some of the wealthiest and most exclusive people have been invited to the restaurant to partake in Slowik’s most recent masterpiece. Some visitors arrive and instantly realize that something is off—and it isn’t just the scent of some bad sushi. No, it seems like Slowik is preparing for something much more perilous, and his intentions will soon come to pass.

Who is in the Cast of The Menu?

The iconic actor and Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes is known for playing villains, and Chef Slowik appears to be no different. Along with playing illustrious roles in movies like The Prince of Egypt’s Rameses and the Harry Potter series’ Lord Voldemort, Fiennes reportedly faced criticism for his portrayal of Schindler’s List’s shockingly vicious adversary. Why? Viewers quickly assumed that actor Ralph Fiennes shared characteristics with the part since the persona he played was so revolting. We are at a loss for words if that doesn’t demonstrate his talent for playing baddies.

The lead in Margot will be played by Anya Taylor-Joy. Since her breakout performance in The Witch, Taylor-Joy has enjoyed a well-deservedly successful career. She has starred in notable movies like Split, Last Night in Soho, The Queen’s Gambit, and The Northman. The most sane character in the film seems to be Margot, who rejects this ludicrous gastronomic snobbishness.

The same cannot be said with Tyler, who is as snobbish as they come when it comes to the culinary arts and is portrayed by Nicholas Hoult. Despite not working with her on the Oscar-winning picture Mad Max: Fury Road, Taylor-Joy is set to enter that same universe in the next spin-off, Furiosa.

The principal cast is completed by John Leguizamo, Janet McTeer, Aimee Carrero, Judith Light, Hong Chau, Christina Brucato, Arturo Castro, Reed Birney, and Rob Yang.
