Money Heist: Korea Season 2 – Will there be a sequel?

Don't miss

With “Money Heist: Korea“, Netflix is launching a remake of the successful Heist series. Will the raid continue in Season 2?

Get the red overalls and the white masks out of the closet, because “Money Heist” is celebrating its comeback – as a Korean adaptation. After the original series by Alex Pina has brought it to a whole five seasons, the question is of course currently in the room, what the chances are for Money Heist: Korea season 2. After the reunification of North and South Korea, is there a future for Tokyo (Junn Jong-seo), Rio (Lee Hyun-Woo) and Co.?

Will there be a second season of Money Heist: Korea?

So far, it is not known whether Netflix will give the “Money Heist” offshoot a sequel. Presumably, the streaming giant will wait to see how the new edition is received by the audience before making a final decision. If the Korean version enjoys similar popularity as the original, nothing should stand in the way of a second season.

“Money Heist” was supposed to end after two seasons with a total of 22 episodes, but the success prompted those responsible to expand the bank robbery drama up to a fifth season (via Netflix documentary “Money Heist: The Phenomenon”). After the banknote printing, the professor’s team set their sights on the Central Bank of Spain. To date, “Money Heist” has stayed in the Netflix series top 10 for up to 697 days in 101 countries (via FlixPatrol). Reason enough for Netflix (Love and Anarchy Season 3) to tackle a first spin-off about Berlin:

Whether “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area” has an equally long and profitable future on Netflix, the following months will probably show. Considering that Korean series on Netflix recently experienced an upswing through “Squid Game” and “All Of Us Are Dead”, many fans are likely to give the remake at least a chance. If you are not familiar with such productions so far, you should not miss the following titles:

In addition, the fact remains that the hard cliffhanger at the end of the sixth episode is a very sure sign that Netflix has planned at least a second season for the series. If this were not done for commercial reasons, the first season would be worthless, so to speak, as it would end in the middle of the story and the expected exciting development would be withheld from the viewers. Even though Netflix has often incurred fan wrath (“Skylines”, “The Society”) by simply dropping series in the middle of the story, we believe we can assume that the second season is safe in this case. Anything else would actually be a form of violence against subscribers.

When could Money Heist: Korea season 2 start?

Should Netflix (The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem) give the green light for a second season of “Money Heist: Korea”, the streaming service is likely to stick to the usual tone of one year. Accordingly, the sequel could premiere on Netflix in the summer of 2023. However, a confirmation of this is not yet available. As soon as there is news, we will inform you about it here.

Money Heist: Korea Season 2 Cast: Who would be there?

Of course, we don’t want to anticipate anything at this point, but if we have learned one thing from “Money Heist”, it is that the death of a character does not also mean the end of the series for his actor. Since “Money Heist: Korea” is based on the narrative style of its predecessor and constantly changes between the present and the past, it would be reasonable to assume that all the main actors would return to the set for a possible second season.
