Maya Hawke is introduced as Robin Buckley in the third season of the show, Stranger Things. Robin works alongside Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) in the ice cream shop, Schoops Ahoy, in Starcourt Mall.

Robin is an integral part of the Scoops Troop, a group formed by Steve and his friends. She forms an integral part of the show when she discovers secret Russian code while decoding intercepted transmissions from the Starcourt Mall. Maya Hawke’s Robin received positive feedback from the fans.

Steve is attracted to the intelligent and witty Robin, but later in the season, it is revealed that Robin is actually gay and shares her feelings with Steve. In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, she talks more about how the journey has been for Robin so far. The interview was regarding a promo for Maya Hawke’s role in the new Wes Anderson movie, ‘Asteroid City’.

“I don’t know. I feel mixed about it,” says Maya Hawke

..when asked about Robin potentially having a girlfriend in Season 5 of Stranger Things. She has also grown close to Vickey (Amybeth McNulty) and this has led to speculation about a relationship brooming between the two.

“I feel that it’s both a great thing, but I also love characters where their love life is not the center of their existence. That friendship with Steve is so special, and friendships have been carrying me through my life. I think they’re really important and they deserve their airtime.” said Maya Hawke.

Season 5 of Stranger Things

The show which was supposed to be starting production for a 5th season, came to a halt because of the ongoing WGA strike. The Duffer Brothers, who are executive producers for the show announced the delay on Twitter.

“Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike,” they added in the tweet. “We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong.”

Netflix is yet to start the production date, as it has been over 50 days since the strike began. This could even delay the release of season 5 further back. The new season is likely to see a time-jump and Hawkins High’s students could be a little older.

As per ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ The Duffer brothers have already pitched the final season to Netflix and have gotten the thumbs up from the production executives. The Duffer brothers also revealed that the episodes in the final season will be shorter than the ones in season 4

No release date has been confirmed yet, but because of the delays, we surely don’t expect the series to air anytime soon.
