In the same year, on July 6 on Crunchyroll the second season of “Made in Abyss” debuted and concluded on September 28. Twelve episodes totaling about 24 minutes each make up the second season of the show.

If you are a program fan and eagerly anticipate its return, there might be a protracted wait. Studio Kinema Citrus, one of the show’s creators and distributors, has not yet released any information on the show’s future in the media. Similar to the first season, the most recent season of the fantasy adventure series is listed as one of the top anime of all time on Myanimelist. On other platforms, it has gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews as well. Additionally, the show’s recognition expands yearly, and anime fans continue to find it highly popular.

Given these factors, it might be clear that the show needs to be revived. That is undeniably true, however the authors’ problem is a lack of relevant sources. Ten of the eleven volumes in Akihito Tsukushi’s manga series have already been published in the first two seasons. The uncertainty surrounding the show’s return is only made worse by the extremely inconsistent distribution of new volumes. There should be at least four more volumes from the authors.

But historically, there has only been one volume added per year, thus the anime renewal committee will have to wait until 2026 to approve the show. Even if that occurs, the overall wait time would increase due to production and other factors. If nothing else, viewers can anticipate the third season of “Made in Abyss” to debut some time around 2027.
