Kingdom Season 5 Release Date
The official website for the anime series has confirmed that Kingdom Season 5 will premiere in April 2024. The announcement was made at the end of Season 4, which aired from April to October 2022.

The teaser trailer shows glimpses of the new characters and conflicts featured in Season 5. It also hints at the return of some familiar faces, such as Xin, Zheng, Diao, Qiang Lei, Wang Qi, and Wang Jian.
Kingdom Season 5 Story
The story of Kingdom Season 5 will follow the aftermath of the war between Qin and Zhao, which ended with a decisive victory for Qin. However, the peace is short-lived, as new enemies and challenges emerge from within and outside China.
One of the main threats is Chu, a powerful state that has been expanding its territory and influence under its ambitious king, Xiang Yan. Chu has allied with Wei, another state that has a grudge against Qin. Together, they plan to launch a massive invasion of Qin’s lands.
Meanwhile, Zheng, the king of Qin, faces internal opposition from his half-brother Cheng Jiao, who plots to overthrow him with the help of his loyal followers. Zheng also has to deal with the intrigues and schemes of Lü Buwei, his former regent and mentor who has his own agenda.
To counter these enemies, Zheng relies on his trusted generals and advisors, such as Li Mu, Meng Tian, Huan Yi, and Bi. He also counts on Xin, the leader of the Fei Xin force and his childhood friend. Xin has grown into a formidable warrior and commander, who dreams of becoming one of the greatest generals in history.
Together, they will face their foes in epic battles that will shape the fate of China and its people.
Kingdom Season 5 News
Kingdom Season 5 will be produced by Studio Pierrot and Studio Signpost, who also worked on Season 4. The director will be Kenichi Imaizumi (Reborn!, Brynhildr in the Darkness), while Noboru Takagi (Durarara!!, Golden Kamuy) will handle the series composition. The cast will reprise their roles from previous seasons.
The opening theme song for Season 5 will be “Shin” by SUIREN (who also performed the first opening theme for Season 4), while the ending theme song will be “Kaze no Naka” by Haku (who also performed the first ending theme for Season 4).
Kingdom is based on a manga series by Yasuhisa Hara that started serialization in Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2006. The manga has over 60 volumes published so far and has sold over 80 million copies worldwide. It has won several awards and accolades, such as the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the Kodansha Manga Award.
The manga is set in China during the Warring States period (475-221 BC), a time of constant warfare and political turmoil among seven states that vied for supremacy. It follows the story of Xin (Shin), an orphan who dreams of becoming a great general; Zheng (Ei Sei), the young king of Qin who aims to unify China; and their allies and enemies who take part in the historical events that shaped Chinese history.
The anime adaptation of Kingdom began airing in 2012 with a first season that covered 38 episodes. A second season followed in 2013 with 39 episodes. A third season was announced in 2019 and aired from April to June 2020 before being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It resumed airing from April to October 2021 with a total of 26 episodes.
