Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is an upcoming anime series that is based on the Japanese manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. The manga was first serialized in Shogakukan’s Shonen manga in April 2020. As of March 2023, 10 volumes of the manga have been published.
With more than 10 million copies sold, the manga is one of the most popular ones. The popularity of the manga led to an anime series adaptation by Madhouse, the studio behind ‘One Punch Man’ and ‘Hajime No Ippo’. Here’s everything you need to know about the anime.

Studio Madhouse will be producing the anime. Fans can now rejoice as a release date has been confirmed. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is all set to release on September 29, 2023. Fans are excited to see that the manga has finally gotten the anime adaptation. The manga series is licensed for an English release in North America by Viz Media.
What to Expect in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End?
Here’s what the official synopsis for the anime states-
The demon king has been defeated, and the victorious hero party returns home before disbanding. The four—mage Frieren, hero Himmel, priest Heiter, and warrior Eisen—reminisce about their decade-long journey as the moment to bid each other farewell arrives. But the passing of time is different for elves, thus Frieren witnesses her companions slowly pass away one by one.
Before his death, Heiter manages to foist a young human apprentice called Fern. Driven by the elf’s passion for collecting a myriad of magic spells, the pair embarks on a seemingly aimless journey, revisiting the places that the heroes of yore had visited. Along their travels, she slowly confronts her regrets of missed opportunities to form deeper bonds with her now-deceased comrades.
This will not be the only season of the anime, as a lot of chapters from the manga will not be adapted into the first season. As the release date approaches, we are hoping to get more information regarding the same.
