Release dates for Dune 2 and Aquaman and the color Purple might be postponed. Because of the ongoing Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild strikes, Warner Bros. is taking these modifications into consideration.
The writers decided to go on strike on May 2nd since they couldn’t come to an agreement with the studios.
Studios have consequently been forced to suspend writing-intensive productions that were hampered by picketing. When they and the studios were unable to come to an agreement, the actors recently joined the strike on July 14. Since almost all productions have been put on hold due to the actors’ strike, performers cannot advertise their movies. Studios do not anticipate a deal to be resolved any time soon because they are considering delaying projects till 2024.
Dune 2 delay due to clashes between Warner Bros and Legendary Entertainment
According to Variety, if the release date for Dune 2 is pushed out to 2024, Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment will have to come to an agreement on a new date. According to Variety’s sources, Warner Bros. has not contacted Legendary about pushing the sequel’s release date to 2024. For the time being, the movie will be released on November 3 as scheduled.
Actors on strike are not permitted to advertise their next work under SAG-AFTRA rules. A press tour without Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, or new co-stars like Austin Butler and Florence Pugh doesn’t speak well for box office anticipation, given the star-studded nature of the epic sequel. Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skarsgard are among the returning actors.
The Color Purple musical might release on Christmas
In May 2023, the Colour Purple movie’s debut trailer was released. Oprah stated at the trailer’s debut that “This movie is a revival for joy, a revival for hope, a revival for forgiveness.”
Variety stated that despite the continuing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Warner Bros. is “assessing potential new dates” for The Colour Purple’s premiere, which will still take place on December 25, 2023.
When will be Aquaman 2 and the lost kingdom released?
Contrarily, the release of Quaman and the Lost Kingdom is delayed until December, giving the company a little more time to make a decision. Any of these delays would be the result of the studios’ steadfast refusal to negotiate with authors or actors on contentious issues like residuals and how artificial intelligence is treated in Hollywood.
