When will Bocchi the Rock Season 2 be released? Is it anytime soon?
Bocchi the Rock, which is considered the biggest-selling anime hit of Fall 2022, is one of the few anime that falls under the comedy and music genre. If you think about the reputable K-On, Bocchi the Rock actually runs along the same lines as that, with only a touch of differences here and there. With that being said, if you ever watched K-On beforehand and you became fond of it, Bocchi the Rock would surely suit your taste.
Bocchi the Rock began life as a Japanese four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Aki Hamaji. It started its serialization in Houbunsha’s seinen manga magazine Manga Time Kirara Max in December 2017. As of November 2022, the chapters have been collected in five tankobon volumes.
The manga series Bocchi the Rock was pretty impressive in terms of achievements, as it ranked eighth in the Best Printed Manga category at the fifth Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in 2019.
Fun fact, the main characters of the show, grouped into a band named Kessoku Band, are inspired by the real-life J-rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation, from which their family names are derived from the aforementioned band. Not only that, but their instrumental roles are matching as well. For example, the Yamada of both bands plays the bass instrument.
Bocchi the Rock Season 2 Renewal Status
The anime adaptation of the successful manga series Bocchi the Rock was first announced on February 18, 2021. The one that handles the production of the adaptation is none other than CloverWorks, the studio that is quite reputable for its animation and art style. Before Bocchi the Rock, CloverWorks released some of the more popular anime shows such as The Promised Neverland, Bunny Girl Senpai, Darling in the FranXX, and last but not least, Spy x Family.
The anime series Bocchi the Rock premiered on October 9, 2022, and ran for twelve episodes before concluding on December 25, 2022. After the first season has ended, many fans are left unsatisfied with the ending and wanted to explore more of the amazing story of the anime, thus craving the sequel Bocchi the Rock Season 2. So, what is the renewal status of the anime? Has anyone said anything yet regarding Bocchi the Rock Season 2?
As of now, neither the studio nor anyone from the production team has said anything regarding the future of the Bocchi the Rock anime series. With that being said, up to this point, Bocchi the Rock Season 2 still remains a mystery.
Will Bocchi the Rock Season 2 ever be released?
With the lack of official information regarding the sequel, fans should be wondering, will Bocchi the Rock Season 2 ever be released? Is it looking good or bleak for the future of the anime series?
First, in terms of source material, the studio would have more than enough of them to make a sequel. The first season of Bocchi the Rock has only covered around twenty-one out of around sixty-two chapters of the manga series. With that being said, the source material is not something that fans should be worrying about.
Second of all, the anime series Bocchi the Rock has received a glaring number of praise from anime lovers all over the world, especially in Japan. The anime was a big hit, estimated to be the highest-selling show of Fall 2022, and might even be the second highest of the year 2022. So, with all of that in mind, Bocchi the Rock Season 2 is basically guaranteed from a financial standpoint
At this point, Bocchi the Rock Season 2 is pretty much a green light already. With the number of chapters left to adapt and rocketing blu-ray sales, it is not a question of “Will we ever get a sequel?” but more like “When will we get the sequel?”
