With season one of ‘Away‘ concluding just as the group of familiar characters arrives safely on Mars, fans are already eagerly anticipating Away season two and what the future holds for Emma and her family. After all, Away distinguishes itself from other science fiction television dramas by functioning as a family drama.
Away Season 2 Renewal
Unfortunately, this did not occur. Netflix did not explain why the show was canceled, but fans offered three hypotheses. For starters, it could be because it was costly. Second, extended production delays caused by the Covid 19 epidemic could compound to the series’ already high costs. Finally, Netflix does not completely control the series. ‘Away,’ while branded as a Netflix Original, was really created by NBC Universal, who licenced the rights to Netflix. This means that the series will revert to NBC Universal’s authority in the future, which may have put the streamer off.
Away Season 2 Release Date
Season 2 will not be available on Netflix because the show has officially been canceled (unless Netflix shifts its mind). The Production Company and the streaming platforms hasn’t confirmed the release date of the second upcoming season of the sci-fi show
Away Season 2 Plot
Away was first ordered by Netflix in 2018. The series had been motivated by astronaut Scott Kelly and cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko’s a year to complete mission aboard the International Space Station from 2015 to 2016 (the series’ title and jumping-off point was writer Chris Jones’ 2014 report on Kelly). The goal of the trip was to assess the impact of space on the human body in order to properly plan for longer journeys.
The Show made it all the way up to #1 on Netflix’s top 10, generating, what we assume, was decently high viewership numbers. It was sci-fi soap and extremely binge able. The first season also ended while the story’s 3-year mission was only partly complete; there was still lots of drama left to be had.

Away Season 2 Trailer
As we all know that Netflix is not planning to renew the legendary show ‘Away’. Only the trailer of first season is available yet. There has been no statement released or an announcement made on social media about the release of the second season. For the time being, watch the Trailer of season 1.
