Gabriel Henrique’s Stellar Audition on America’s Got Talent
During his audition, the 27-year-old Gabriel Henrique, who was visiting the United States from Brazil for the first time, explained that he didn’t speak English well and had a translator on stage. After his impressive performance of Whitney Houston’s “Run to You,” all four judges, Sofía Vergara, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, praised his vocals. Heidi compared him to a mix of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey and called him incredible. Howie was surprised by the power of his voice and compared him to the best pop diva. Simon recognized Gabriel’s talent and predicted that people would love him, adding that his performance was amazing.
Golden Buzzer Highlights of America’s Got Talent
During her turn to share her thoughts, Sofía Vergara expressed that Gabriel’s performance was the moment she had been waiting for all season as a judge on America’s Got Talent. She wanted something beautiful and heartfelt, and Gabriel delivered just that, prompting her to hit the Golden Buzzer. Gabriel was overwhelmed with emotion, hugging his translator and Sofía with tears in his eyes. This makes him the last act to receive one of the four judges’ Golden Buzzer this season.
Previously, other acts like Lavender Darcangelo, Murmuration, Putri Ariani, and Atlanta Drum Academy earned the Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, and host Terry Crews respectively. Additionally, the Mzansi Youth Choir from South Africa received the show’s first-ever Audience Golden Buzzer with a touching tribute to the late AGT season 16 singer Nightbirde. The judges have yet to award their Group Golden Buzzer.
