Paul Wesley is famous for his role as Stefan Salvatore in the supernatural TV series, ‘The Vampire Diaries’. Paul Wesley was part of the show which ran from 2009 to 2017. Paul starred with Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder on the show.
The series follows Nina Dobrev as she tries to navigate a love triangle between the two vampire brothers. But as the series progresses, the trio finds themselves in trouble in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.
In an interview with Instyle, Paul Wesley reveals more about his days as a Vampire on the sets of CW’s ‘The Vampire Diaries’.
“I would never do another vampire anything, period,” says Paul Wesley
Paul definitely seems to have left his vampire days in the past. Playing one of the descendants of Count Dracula for 8 seasons can be pretty daunting, to say the least.
“I don’t really miss anything about playing him, and I don’t mean that in a [negative way]. Eight years is a long time, and I’m so glad to put that to rest. Eight seasons.”
He also talks more about the portrayal of his character Stefan Salvatore.
“I loved how dynamic he was. Because the show ran for such a long time, in order for it to not become monotonous, every season, he sort of had a different arc. At one point he was pure evil, and he started out as the good guy and then he ended as the good guy. But I liked the challenge of trying to keep the character fresh.”
Instyle asked if he would ever return to the franchise or be a part of another Vampire-themed project. He confirmed that the chances of that happening are not likely.
When asked about future projects, Wesley said he is excited about them and already working on it. Talking more about Vampire Diaries, he says
“It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever done, as far as popularity,” he said. “I’ve done a bunch of roles since The Vampire Diaries, but nothing has been nearly as popular, so I think you have to get that next thing that puts you into a conversation that involves you and not the character that you’re known for playing.”
“I don’t like to just sit back and wait for roles to come to me,” he says. “Sometimes they do and they’re awesome, like Star Trek, but other times I like to just create my own path. It’s very rewarding.”
Apart from The Vampire Diaries, Paul Wesley has appeared in several notable films and television shows. ‘Before I Disappear’ (2014), ‘Amira and Sam’ (2014), and ‘The Late Bloomer’ (2016) are some of the movies he has starred in. Paul has also made appearances in TV shows like ‘24’, ’Smallville’, and ‘Army Wives’.
